Black sesame soup is a popular Chinese dessert that can be widely found throughout China and Hong Kong. It is generally served hot.

[edit] Preparation

In Cantonese cuisine, it is a form of tong sui, or sweet soup (similar to Western pudding). The main ingredient is crushed black sesame seeds in a flour form. It is boiled, and, sometimes, granulated sugar is added to further sweeten the soup. The soup is perhaps the thickest of all tong sui. Tangyuan is also sometimes added into black sesame soup. It can now also be easily home-made using instant packets.
